Hi there, this essay does not take a neutral position—it presents a conditional “agree” stance, which is perfectly acceptable in IELTS. The introduction makes this clear: “It is agreed that it is correct to exclude people from certain jobs on the basis of their gender, but only in very limited circumstances.” This shows a definite position (agree, but with conditions), rather than neutrality. If you have any further questions, please email us at chris@ieltsadvantage.com.

Hi, I too have the same question. This essay has a neutral position. Neither agree nor disagree, but the question clearly asks, ” Is it right to exclude males or females from certain professions because of their gender?” . So, this question is not answered, isn’t it? Is it ok?

So didn’t the above essay do quite the opposite, after affirming that women lack the physical strength, why did it go around and exemplify the opposite. Also can you help with the concession statement.

Hi there! The instructions say to write at least 250 words. You do not lose marks if your essay is under 250 words or if your essay is very long. However, you should aim for between 260-290 words. Hi there, ‘this essay will discuss’ is fine if it is a discussion type essay and the opinion is clearly stated.
No, they shouldn’t be neutral. If their opinion is asked for, they should come down clearly on one side or the other. So, if they think it is right to be excluded, give two reasons why, if it is wrong, two reasons why not.

I have a question regarding the first paragraph, the 3rd sentence where you stated this essay will discuss… , I thought those are some of the things that you stated are unnecessary in your video. Another question I have is will a candidate get a good score for being neutral, I thought the correct thing is to state whether it is right or not right for people to be excluded from jobs based on gender?
