The Academic Writing Task 1 is usually either a graph, chart, map or process diagram. If you are given a chart or graph, you will be asked to describe what this is showing. For a process diagram, you will be asked to describe the whole process. The map exercises usually ask about differences between 2 maps, past and present or different areas.
Whatever task you get for Task 1, you will be asked to write 150 words. The recommended time that you should spend on this task is 20 minutes.
